My first toy ever was a stuffed cat given to me by my aunt when I was born. That sealed my fate as a cat lady forever. I grew up in a house with 10 cats, and they were always my friends! I started drawing at age 9 out of boredom and just never stopped. Making stories, faces, and concepts come to life in art was always one of my favorite things about drawing, and it still is! Those two interests wouldn't come together for many years though, as I always thought making a job from art wasn't viable. So I worked in retail for 9 years until in 2016 I quit my job to make art for a living!

For many years before starting Made by Squeak, I had been drawing cat heads all over everything I owned (and didn't own) like my books, my name tags at work, my school assignments, etc. I never knew I could make a business out of drawing cat related silliness until I found out about enamel pins! It started there back in 2016, and thanks to you and many others, has grown and evolved so much!

In my spare time I like to hang out with my husband and friends, read, cook experimental foods, and draw. My favorite drink is Jasmine milk tea with no sugar, no ice, and extra boba; I drink so much of it and I'm always in search of better boba! I live in Texas with my husband, son, and cat.

 

So why the name "Squeak"? 

 

I had a cat named Remus many years ago, who was my best friend, and he liked being picked up, but he had a hilarious problem. He didn't meow! He only squeaked when he wanted to talk! I thought it was the cutest thing in the world, so 10 year old me chose the name "Squeak" to use online in games and on forums from then on. It stuck and that became my nickname! So Made by Squeak only felt like the right name for my silly business. Here's a picture of my best boy Remus for your enjoyment!
